RB Summer Shootout: Notables

The June live period was a success! All weekend teams and players battled for wins at Riverside Brookfield, the top host of this weekend's live period. Here is a list of the notable young prospects that went above and beyond, strengthening their recruitment this weekend.

Notables

Dietrich Richardson - PG - Peoria Manual

Maybe the most college ready prospect in the state. What makes Richardson such an intriguing prospect is the fact that he has all the tools. Richardson possesses great positional size, standing at 6'6. All weekend, Richardson displayed an advanced mid-range game, getting to his spots with ease. In transition, Richardson's athletic ability stands out, blowing by defenders for dunks. Already a high major prospect with offers from a plethora of schools.

Jacob Rice - W - St. Laurence

Control and composure are two words that describe Rice's game. Recently made the move from WRA to St. Laurence and proved to be a great addition to the team. With the ball, Rice's decisiveness allows him to get wherever he wants on the court. A great shooter of the catch, and a great operator in the lane. Rice can truly score from anywhere on the court, whether it is an NBA range three, or a fade away from the low post. Recently received his first division one offer and we expect more to come as he had the baselines stacked with coaches to view him and his team.

EJ Mosley - PG - St. Laurence

Mosley's big summer continues as his stock is rising at a rapid rate. Many mid majors are getting involved and offers from this weekend are already rolling in. Fresh off an offer from Appalachian State, Mosley came into the live period and proceeded to impress more coaches. Mosley is a true point guard with high IQ, shooting ability, and athletic traits. All weekend, Mosley's lightning speed paired with ball handling skills allowed him to blow by defenders for the score or assist.

Jax Abalos - W - Batavia

Primed for a huge senior season, Abalos had a fantastic weekend at RB. The 6'8 wing displayed his consistent shooting ability, knocking down countless threes in defender's faces. His length makes for an essentially uncontested release over the top of defenders. When Abalos is not shooting the three, he can easily clean up missed shot on the boards, and attack closeouts for highlight dunks. Abalos displayed good off-ball defense and reliability in structure. The combination of size, shooting ability, and athleticism makes Abalos a stellar prospect in the 2025 class. Abalos has offers from several mid-major programs, yet I think there is high major potential for him in the near future.

Oliver Gray - SG - Barrington '26

The second youngest prospect on our list. The 6'5 2026 SG did it all this weekend for Barrington. Gray is one of the best shooters in the state, and has developed his all around scoring ability. Good positional size at 6'5 and has all the tools to become a major prospect in the 2026 class. Still developing, Gray will blossom into a tremendous prospect in the near future.

Davion Thompson - PG - Bolingbrook '27

The youngest prospect on our list with the highest ceiling on our list. The 6'2 2027 point guard has gained national attention for his play, and for good reason. The pure skill that Thompson possesses is second to none. Thompson's preciseness allows him to pick apart defenses and get to his spot. Shooting was prevalent for Thompson this weekend, consistently draining threes and getting to his mid-range pull back. Already has high major offers. Will be a high profile commitment.
