The class of 2027 in Illinois continues to emerge as one of the state's most intriguing groups, with talent spread throughout the Chicago area and beyond. While several of the state's premier prospects have already begun to see their recruitments take shape, there remains plenty of available talent for college programs to evaluate.

David Udiowod – 5’11 PG – Geneva

Udiowod only recently came onto the recruiting scene; however, he is one to watch. A high-motor kid with great defensive feel, ball screen operating skills, and a developing perimeter game. Udiowod is a defensive threat, both on ball and in passing lanes. On the offensive side of the ball, Udiowod is silky smooth and has an unorthodox, yet effective way of creating space for midrange or paint twos. Udiowod is projected to have a great year with Geneva.

Damari Stephens – 6’4 G – Kenwood

Stephens enters the 2026-2027 season as one of the more established names on this list. The Kenwood standout already has significant high-level experience and has shown that he can produce against the best. Stephens' production and physical tools make him a player worth monitoring closely throughout his senior season.

Jamarri Fears – 5’10 PG – Joliet West

Fears, a smaller lead guard, has been rising swiftly in the recruiting world. Fears displays intense athleticism and explosive pop, high IQ, solid perimeter shooting, and very good ball skills. Fears is coming off a very strong AAU campaign with Zero Fears Adidas and a showing at the prestigious ABCD camp hosted in Arizona, where he competed amongst the nation’s best. Fears is a division one recruit, and in a family with a track record of development, I would not be afraid to move forward and recruit Jamarri.

Deven Marshall – 6’1 PG – Rock Island

Marshall may be one of the most intriguing scoring guards in the state. Marshall averaged 20.2 points and 2.0 steals per game during his junior season while shooting an efficient 64.2% from the field. Marshall’s offensive efficiency is an extreme capability at the next level. Marshall combines scoring production with the ability to make plays defensively, giving him a well-rounded game.

Oturo Redento – 6’6 W – Glenbard North

Redento has one of the highest ceilings among the players on this list. Redento has the size and perimeter skills of a collegiate wing. His development has already attracted attention from many programs, and the strong-bodied combo forward should only continue to gain interest. Redento enters his senior season with an opportunity to make a significant jump.

Dawson Charles – 6’2 CG – Saint Viator

Charles is coming off a notable junior campaign at Saint Viator. He finished the season with 15.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.3% from the field. Charles reached the 1,000-point milestone, earned ESCC All-Conference honors and helped Saint Viator capture a regional championship. His combination of efficiency, scoring ability and experience gives him an intriguing profile for college programs looking for a dependable backcourt piece.

Dshaun Bolden – 6’5 W – Oswego East

Bolden is an under-the-radar, high-upside kid. Bolden is a lengthy, athletic, versatile wing. With a near 40-inch vertical, Bolden finishes with force and is a transition threat to opposing teams. For Bolden, the upcoming season represents an opportunity to turn his physical tools into consistent production. At his size and athletic level, continued development as a shooter, defender, and offensive creator could significantly raise his recruiting stock. I believe Bolden is a Division I basketball player; it is only a matter of time before the offers come in.

Ryan Howard – 6’4 G – Alton

The Alton standout has already demonstrated the ability to produce at a high level during recent live periods. At 6-foot-4, his size is a plus at the guard position. Howard’s recruitment has the potential to pick up over the course of his senior campaign.

Lamari Carpenter – 6’5 CG – Glenbard North

At 6-foot-5, Carpenter has the physical profile of a collegiate combo guard. His size and versatility could make him especially intriguing for programs searching for a big, athletic, physical, and high-motor guard. A definite division one talent. Made impressive jumps at each live period.

Nate Woods – 6’6 W – Bolingbrook

Woods has significant upside. Woods is a modern wing, with elite shooting and floor spacing ability. An above-the-rim finisher with developing ball skills and a polished perimeter shot, Woods is a prospect that can prove useful in any system at the next level. Definitely a division one prospect to track while in the pursuit of success this season with Bolingbrook.

Elijah Bell – 6’3 G – Marian Catholic

Bell is one of the more under-the-radar guards in the class. Bell brings a combination of playmaking and downhill scoring ability to the backcourt. Bell's ability to create advantages on offense and disrupt actions on defense could make him a player who sees his recruitment accelerate with another strong season.

While the state's highest-profile prospects will continue to receive the majority of the attention, there is significant talent available outside of the established names. For college coaches searching for the next Illinois prospect to emerge, these are names worth keeping on the radar.
